Informal, Agro-pastoral Agriculture : Lawmakers Seek Valorisation Mechanisms

This was during a deliberative forum chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Kombo Gberi on behalf of the House Speaker on July 2, 2020.

Members of Parliament of the parliamentary network to accompany socio-economic actors in the informal and agro-pastoral sector with access to water and energy, abbreviated REP-SIAP have brainstormed on measures to be adopted for improving informal and agro- pastoral agriculture in the country. The deliberative seminar was chaired by Deputy House Speaker, Hon. Kombo Gberi on behalf of the Speaker of the National Assembly.

In his opening remark, the Deputy House Speaker highlighted the importance of agriculture in nourishing households and job creation for the economy. Going by him, agriculture needs to be valorised reason why members of the network came together to globally seek ways of guidance and sensitisation of actors in the sector. He said water and energy are very important aspects needed in an effective agricultural process. Water he said, is life and a basic requirement need in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hon. Kombo Gberi said deliberations will take into consideration all specificities of the different localities of the country with the outcome being the coming up of adaptive measures to particular situations.
