Basic Education: Recruitment Of PTA Teachers Clarified

The Minister of Basic Education Youssouf Adidja Alim answered questions from two Senators on December 7, 2016.

The Minister of Basic Education Youssouf Adidja Alim says the selection process for the recruitment of Parent Teachers Association teachers into her ministry is complete and the list of 3,051 teachers will soon be made public.

She spoke during a question time plenary sitting in the Senate on December 7, 2016 chaired by Senate President Marcel Niat Njifenji. The Basic Education Minister answered questions asked by Senators Jean Marie Mama and Jean Marie Pongmoni on the recruitment of PTA teachers, situation of pupil-teacher ratio in the urban centres and the rural areas.

Concerning the alleged fraud and malpractices in the recruitment process of PTA teachers, the Minister said selection criteria was clear starting from the local right up to the national level in which she chairs the inter-ministerial committee in charge of the final recruitment process.
