Chantal Biya International Cycling Race : Preparations Underway

The competition registered on the calendar of the International Cyclist Union (UCI) has been billed for October 6 to 11, 2020.


In less than two months, the 20th edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling Race will take place in Cameroon. The competition registered on the calendar of the International Cyclist Union (UCI) has been billed for October 6 to 11, 2020. Ahead of this important event, preparations have begun in the country. The competition will take place in strict respect of the COVID-19 barrier measures. The last sector preparatory meeting for the event took place at conference hall of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education in Yaounde on August 24, 2020. The meeting was presided over by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Joseph Yerima. Discussions centered on the organization of the competition and the impact of the pandemic on the budget, the preparation of Cameroonian cyclists, among others. 
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General recommended the pursuit of the preparations while waiting for the government to lift certain barrier measures linked to the fight against the coronavirus. Joseph Yerima called on the technical committee to inform the teams, delegations, cyclists and officials to take part in the competition on the health security measures taken by Cameroon before, during and after the competion. Some ten teams, eight from Cameroon will take part in the competition.
