Feeding In Schools: Policy Document Underway

A national workshop to assess school feeding through an approach for better education results ends today, December 9, 2016, in Yaounde.

 

Most of the school feeding programmes in Cameroon are spearheaded by international donors such as World Food Programme, (WFP) and NASCENT Solutions. Within these programmes the Secretary General in the Ministry of Basic Education, Bea Bisse said just 2.5 per cent of school children are covered. While opening a workshop to assess school feeding using the SABER Approach (System Approach for Better Education Results), Bea Bisse, said a majority of school children will be covered by a school feeding programme when government will put in place the necessary policy and resources to undertake such a programme.

The workshop is out to discuss and see the capacity of government institutions especially local council’s in a bid to establish a national policy on school feeding programme.
