South West : Council Branches Remained Open Till Midnight
ELECAM staff will now concentrate on verifying the files.
A staff at the South West Regional Office of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) told Cameroon Tribune yesterday that the offices of the six Divisional Council Branches were to remain open till midnight. The submission of files from political parties and traditional rulers were still awaited. He added that all necessary measures had been taken to receive the files.
All the 31 local councils and two City Councils are managed and controlled by the ruling Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM). It is therefore expected that the CPDM will be the only party that has deposited files in all the constituencies of the Regional Council Election. At press time yesterday, four out of the six ELECAM Council Branches had each received a single list from traditional rulers. They are Ndian, Meme, Lebialem and Kupe Muanenguba.
Already, some quarters are cogitating over the absence of some of their prominent traditional rulers from the lists for non-classification. In all cases the law will prevail.
