Digital Marketing : SOPECAM Gets Ready For Wholesome Transformation

Some 22 workers attended a workshop at the African Institute of Computer Science, IAI, Yaounde, from September 24-25, 2020.

The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has left most businesses and institutions gasping for ideas on how to keep work going by employing more online tools. For example, by working from home. This has been made the more urgent as these companies have to boost their turnover by selling more of their products and services online.
It was against this background that the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation, SOPECAM and the African Institute of Computer Science, IAI, from September 24-25, 2020 organised a workshop on “Introducing and managing digital transformation: Digital marketing and the place of man.” The training in the IAI campus at Nkongoa on the outskirts of Yaounde was facilitated by Rigobert Kenmogne and Manuela Noah.  
“Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, there is urgent need for each institution and business to make more use of the Internet,” Kenmogne explained. “Even big firms like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, etc are not left out. They have all been hit hard by the pandemic. This is why they quickly adapted, became more innovative and developed new online tools such as video conferencing. Thereby allowing for work from home,” Kenmogne noted.   
Meanwhile, an online survey on digital use conducted at the workshop by participants produced a 2.2/10 score for SOPECAM, rating it as a “late starter.” Despite the low score, Kenmogne assured that SOPECAM was on the right track to digitalization. “Management now has to take urgent steps to strengthen the presence of SOPECAM’s products on the Internet and social media. They must employ the services of a Content Management System, CMS manager, continue to train staff in digital matters, and commit to raise SOPECAM’s turnover,” Kenmogne advised.
