Social Protection : Gov’t Seeks To Create Unified Database

Stakeholders are currently brainstorming on the stakes of establishing a Unified Social Registry in Cameroon in a two-day workshop which began October 27, 2020 in Yaounde.

In a bid to ensure social protection, Government through the Ministry of Social Affairs and partners are working on establishing a Unified Social Registry (USR).  Deliberations are currently on-going in Yaounde during a two-day workshop which began October 27.  The Workshop was opened by the Minister of Social Affairs, Pauline Irene Nguene. The national registry, according to stakeholders, seeks to establish a unified database of beneficiaries.
Talking during the opening ceremony, the Minister says given that there are many projects to ensure protection in the domains of health, education, food security amongst others, it is indispensable to create a national unified registry where the list of beneficiaries will be outlined making the aiding process easier. She urged stakeholders present at the workshop to put in place all their expertise and competences so as to come out with the best methodology, technology and the appropriate management system to coordinate the affairs of the registry.
