Electoral Campaign : Candidates, Parties Finalise Preparations

They are holding strategic meetings while the elections organising body, Elections Cameroon is printing campaign ballots.

Campaign for the first election of Regional Councillors in Cameroon will start on November 21, 2020. Considering that this decisive phase of the electoral process will start in about  two weeks from now, all the actors, especially candidates with regard to delegates of divisions  and their political parties and also candidates who are representatives of traditional rulers are doubling efforts to woo electors.
The candidates and political parties in their final preparations for campaign in the December 6, 2020 election are guided  by the prescriptions of the Electoral Code and those of the Director General of Elections at Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), Erik Essoussè. ELECAM is printing the campaign ballot papers. However, campaign posters, circulars  and manifestos would have to be printed by the lists of candidates and/or political parties. The posters and manifestos though produced at the expense of the candidates or political parties have to respect the prescribed sizes and must be printed on a paper which has the same colour as the one chosen for the printing of campaign and ballot papers.  In compliance with  the provisions of Section 89 of the Electoral Code,  the circulars, posters and manifestos shall be submitted in duplicate to Elections Cameroon for prior endorsement before publication. The Electoral Code in Section 91 (1) further states that Council authorities shall at the instance of ELECAM, make available to every candidate or list of candidates, space for the display of posters and other campaign material.
