Christmas Feast : “Les Coccinelles” Pupils Celebrate Love, Unity

The 2020 Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the school complex was presided over by the First Lady, Chantal Biya, matron of the institution.

The holy birthday of Jesus Christ was echoed through songs, recitations and dance by pupils of “Les Coccinelles" School Complex of the Unity Palace yesterday, December 23, 2020. This was during the traditional Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony presided over by the First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya who is also matron of the school. 
The event took place within the strict compliance of the barrier measures against Covid-19 as instituted by the Government and the World Health Organisation (WHO). Social distancing, wearing of face mask and the use of hand sanitizer were respected to the letter by the 50 guests at the ceremony. In a welcome song, titled “Barrier Measures”, the pupils greeted their audience from a distance and said they do not want them to fall sick. As such, everybody should respect the barrier measures against Covid-19. However, they assured their matron, parents and special guests of a joyful moment in songs and dance.
Indeed, it was a moment of joy as the pupils took thier audience down memory lane about the birth of Jesus Christ, Father Christmas, the feast of the saviour Jesus Christ, the days in December and the symbol of Christmas. In a recitation: “The Holy Birthday of Jesus Christ and Every time”, the kids told their audience that every time you forgive someone and begin to love each other, that is Christmas. Hence, may this Christmas bring a total understanding of peace, love and unity in the heart of every Cameroonian.
