Evolution of Covid-19 : 939 Active Cases, 46 Hospitalised

These statistics were revealed during the daily press briefing on the situation of the pandemic in the country on December 24, 2020.

As of December 24, 2020, the overall epidemiological situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country revealed 26,277 confirmed cases, 24,892 recoveries, 446 deaths, 939 active cases and 46 in-patients in different management units. This was made known by the Director of Disease Control at the Ministry of Public Health, Dr Georges Alain Etoundi Mballa, at the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre. He was speaking during the daily press briefing on the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, on December 24, 2020. On behalf of the Minister of Public Health, Dr Etoundi Mballa told the press that statistics have shown that recovery rate of Covid-19 pandemic in the country stands at 95 per cent, while death rate is 1.7 per cent and bed occupancy rate 1.5 per cent.
Right now in some countries, end-of-year festivities have been cancelled due to the discovery of a new, more contagious and aggressive strain of the Coronavirus. In other countries, the return to confinement offers no prospect for festive public gatherings. In most countries worldwide, priority is to protect the health of populations. However, in Cameroon, Dr Etoundi Mballa said citizens are enjoying Christmas and the New Year Day celebrations. The health expert stressed that the population must never forget that they owe the capacity for resilience due to the striking result of the coherent implementation of the national strategy to fight against this pandemic coordinated by the Prime Minister, Head of the Government and personally supervised by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.
