New National Assembly Building : Progressive Construction Works

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on January 8, 2021 visited the construction site for the new permanent building of the National Assembly of Cameroon. Visibly impressed by the advancement on construction works, the House Speaker urged those involved in the project to ensure the respect of the deadline earmarked for the realisation of the project. He equally said the hemicycle of the old structure should be preserved for its historic significance to Cameroon, as it is the place where all democratically-elected Presidents of Cameroon have taken the oath of office. 
In his explanation, the President of the Follow-up Committee, Hon. Théodore Datoua, who is equally one of the Deputy Speakers at the National Assembly said  the hemicycle will be rehabilitated and harmonized into the new building and would serve as the museum of the National Assembly, preserving all historic and parliamentary attachments of the country. He stated that the project is a result of the positive cooperation ties between Cameroon and China and very dear to the President of the Republic.
