MINREX : Cameroon Thanked For Assisting Chinese

The Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella on January 13, 2021 had discussions with the Ambassador of China to Cameroon, Wang Yingwu.

The Ambassador of China to Cameroon, Wang Yingwu during discussions with Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella on January 13, 2021 expressed the profound gratitude of his country to the Cameroon government for assisting Chinese who had fled the instability in the Central African Republic and found refuge in Cameroonian Eastern border town of Garoua-Boulai.
Over 4, 500 people fled the instability in the Central African Republic to Garoua-Boulai, among whom were 150 Chinese. President Paul Biya on Sunday, January 10, 2021 dispatched the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji to assure the affected Chinese of Cameroon’s hospitality. Besides the message of concern from President Paul Biya, Minister Atanga Nji also handed to the Chinese materials of basic necessities and financial assistance to enable them survive the difficult situation.
It was in recognition of the concern, hospitality and assistance the stranded Chinese received from Cameroon’s Head of State, Paul Biya  that  Ambassador Wang Yingwu expressed the gratitude of his country.
