Special 2020 : President Biya’s Achievements On Spotlight

The news magazine published by the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic has made a balance sheet of the President’s actions for 2020 as well as those of the First Lady.

The Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic in the 168 pages of its bilingual news magazine, “LE TEMPS DES OPPORTUNITES” published a balance sheet of government’s actions for 2020. The 65th issue of the publication of January 2021 in the front page carries the picture of the Head of State, President Paul Biya and bears the title “Unique Acuity”. Page four of the publication carries the message “Happy and Prosperous New Year 2021”

The publisher of the news magazine, the Minister, Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo in an editorial entitled, “The Art of Regeneration” painted the picture of the year 2020 which got off to a beautiful start, ushering prospects of a long year of happiness for everyone but turned out to be special in the end. He stated the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and its telling disastrous consequences and other crises. President Paul Biya, he said, was able “to respond proportionately and accurately to each situation.” The January 2021 issue of the news magazine sets out to show how Cameroon under the stewardship of President Paul Biya was able to regenerate in the face of numerous crises looming over the country and rocking the world.

What catches much attention in the public is the Special 2020  that runs from page 8 to 123. Topics treated in the special include Paul Biya, the embodiment of wisdom, Democracy; The law, the People and the President, Decentralisation; Hope for Harmonious Development of Cameroon, Rule of law and Human Rights: A Telling Achievement, Resolving the Crisis in the North West and South West Regions; A Constant Preoccupation, A Modern Army to Address Security Challenges. Also treated in the special are topics such as Our Duty of Solidarity to Consolidate National Unity, Relevant Diplomacy at the Service of Cameroon’s Emergence, the Cameroonian Economy in the Face of Health and Economic Crises: from Resilience to Recovery, Digital Transformation in Cameroon and its impact on the National Economy, Revolution in the Telecommunications. The COVID-19 Response: Discourse, Method and Results, CHAN 2021 and AFCON 2022 preparations are also highlighted. There is equally recognition of Cameroonian ladies who won international awards such as Djaili Amadou Amal and Hemley Boum.

The publication carries a total of 1,861 laws, decrees and orders signed by President Paul Biya from September 2020, the Head of State’s 2021 New Year message to the nation on December 31, 2020. It also focuses on the last audience for 2020  President Biya granted to  the  Equatorial Guinean delegation led by the Minister of State for Regional Integration, Baltasar Engonga Edjo’o and  assisted by Vice  Minister of Defence, Candido Ncogo Engono Nchama at the Unity Palace on December 22, 2020.

The First Lady, Chantal Biya’s activities are also published in the magazine.  Major highlights here include her presence at the final phase of the 2020 Grand Prix Chantal Biya Cycling Competition at the Yaounde 20 May Boulevard.  She also received in audience the award-winning Cameroonian Writer Djaili Amadou Amal and equally chaired the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the “Les Coccinelles” School Complex in the Unity Palace.
