Spanish Super Cup : Messi Banned For Two Games

Six-time Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi has been prohibited to take part in two matches after collecting a red card for lashing out at Asier Villalibre. The Argentinian superstar was dismissed during a Spanish Super Cup clash with Athletic Club and is now due to serve his suspension. The Committee which controls disciplinary matters in Spain, has ruled that the star footballer will not have to serve a lengthy suspension.  It had been suggested that the mercurial South American could face up to 12 games stuck on the sidelines as a result of his reckless actions. The match officials and the committee have, however, decided that there was no aggression on the part of Messi, meaning that standard sentences will be implemented.
