Intermediate Lions : Fighting Spirit Raising Hopes

The Cameroonian team qualified for the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship after winning one match and drawing two games at the Group Stage.

Hopes for the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon to carry home the trophy of the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) were rekindled after the team grabbed a qualification ticket to the quarterfinals of the competition. They emerged second in group A with five points not far from the seven points grabbed by the patrons of the group, Mali.
The tussle for the qualification ticket to this very crucial stage of the competition was not all that rosy given the difficulties faced by the team in surmounting their opponents in all three matches. Analysts are of the opinion that the defence has so far been promising but the attack line still leaves much to be desired. The lions barely struggled to win their first game against Zimbabwe and drew their last two matches against Mali and Burkina Faso respectively. This performance earned them the second place in Group A with five points and two goals. However, fans opined that what cuts across all the games was the fighting spirit even though the goals were not forthcoming. The low number of goals, many say, was due to the incapability of team to give a good finishing after putting up a tough fight at the midfield....
