The Speaker of the National Assembly received the West Africa Boss of UN Women on August 12, 2016.
The Regional Director for West and Central Africa of the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women, UN WOMEN, Madam Diana Louise Ofwona, has relayed her institution’s proposal that women’s property rights be one of the issues submitted to Parliament for discussion. “Hopefully, during my next passage in Cameroon, I will be pleasantly informed of progress in this direction,” she told the press after meeting the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on August 12, 2016 in Yaounde.
Both also reviewed women’s participation in politics and acknowledged milestones covered. “What we have to work for now is a path for the full participation of women in all spheres of the economy,” she stated.
