South West: Farmers Showcase Agricultural Potentials

The 2016 annual Regional Agro-Pastoral Show took place from December 19 to 21 in Buea.

 

The 2016 edition of the traditional annual Regional Agro-pastoral Show for the South West Region took place in Buea from December 19 to 21 with farmers demonstrating the enormous agricultural potentials. On display were giant size agricultural products like yams, cocoyams, plantains, cassava and also livestock like pigs, fish, snails, guinea pigs, chicken and so on. There were also cash crops like cocoa, coffee, banana, palm kennels and the list is in-exhaustive.  Cassava pilled to form the shape of the map of Cameroon was a special attraction at the show village at the esplanade of the Molyko stadium.

Speaking during the official opening ceremony of the event on Tuesday, December 20, the Secretary General at the Governor’s office representing the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Clement Fon Ndikum said the organisation of the event depicts the importance government accords to agriculture and that the massive participation of farmers is also proof of their willingness to contribute to national development.
