The National Coordinator of the National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Committee (NDDRC) Fai Yengo Francis laid the foundation stone on March 20, 2021.

After the Bamenda multipurpose vocational training centre dedicated to ex-fighters of the armed groups in the North West Region, President Paul Biya has again made available funds for the construction of the multipurpose centre for the South West Region.

The over FCFA 1.5 billion futuristic South West Regional Centre for the National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Centre is being constructed in Misselele village in Tiko Subdivision, Fako Division. The National Coordinator of the National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Committee, Fai Yengo Francis laid the foundation stone of the project on March 20, 2021. This was in the presence of the South West administrative authorities led by Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, Mayor of Tiko Council Chief Mbollo Ndedi and the traditional ruler of Misselele, Chief Peter Ikome Mesoso.

The NDDRC technical partner in charge of  executing the project indicated the construction of the centre will last for nine months. The structures for the centre proper that can take between 200 to 300 people will occupy five hectares of land out of the 21 hectares reserved for the project and the remaining land will be used for future projects. The project consists of building training workshops on different trades, dormitories for personnel, sports infrastructure including a football pitch, dispensary, refectory, church, security infrastructure  and every other facility to enable the ex-fighters stay within the centre. The Regional Chief of the South West NDDRC Centre, Ngone Ndode Mesape said the multipurpose centre will create ample space for the training of the ex-fighters in trades such as agro-pastoral activities, tailoring, carpentry and other income-generating activities that are already being taught them in the temporary site at Booster Institute in Buea.
