Douala II Council: Over FCFA 2.3 Billion For 2017

The budget earmarks more investments, particularly in education, road infrastructure, and modernisation.

 

Ordinarily, FCFA 2.3 billion sounds too much but not with the development needs Douala II Municipality. Councillors of the council have voted over FCFA 2.3 billion as 2017 budget. Though there is an increase of FCFA 180,059,924 from the 2016 budget, the good news is that the budget considers more investments, especially the completion and inauguration of its Council Hall in New Bell; socio-educational facilities; road infrastructure; equipping of services with automobiles and furniture; construction layout, improving the digitization of payment of taxes in order to eliminate the handling of communal funds by corrupt intermediaries, as well as hygiene and sanitation.

During the Council’s ordinary session, December 22, devoted to the evaluation of the execution of the 2016 budget and to the examination and voting of the 2017 budget, Denise Fampou, Mayor of the Douala II Council, explained the increase to their desire to enhance revenue collection.
