AFCON 2021 : Mascot, Anthem Unveiled

The mascot “Mola” andhymn song “AfricaSmile” were presented in a ceremony in Yaounde on Saturday May 15, 2021 while waiting for approval from CAF.

The main hall of the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex was the venue of the ceremony to unveil the best selected works of the National Artistic Contest for the official anthem and mascot of the Total Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021. Cameroonians from all walks of life thronged the venue to watch the unveiling ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who doubles as the president of COCAN 2021 expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who have contributed towards the success of the event.The Minister used the occasion to announce the arrival of CAF expertson May 21, 2021 who will be in the country to inspect sports infrastructure, hotel, hospital and airport infrastructure ear marked for the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations.

Jules Dennis Onana, spokesperson of former Indomitable Lions said the presence of the former Lions was to push the Indomitable Lions to win the AFCON trophy on home soil.The audience listened to explanations on the voting process, watched presentations of the three mascots and listened to the three songs selected by the jury. Thepublic had 15 minutes to cast their votes. Voting was equally done online for football fans that could not make the trip to the Multipurpose Sports Complex.
