Electoral Lists : 182,913 New Electors Registered

The Director General of Elections revealed the statistics yesterday September 1, 2021.

A total of one hundred and eighty-two thousand, nine hundred and thirteen new potential voters have been registered on the electoral list of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) at the close of operations on August 31, 2021 in conformity with the law. This statistics were presented by the Director General of Elections, Dr. Erik Essousse on September 1, 2021 in Yaounde. According to the Director General, the number of citizens enrolled on electoral registers pending clean-up is now seven million, fifty-eight thousand, one hundred and twenty-two (7,058,122). 
Giving details on the newly registered electors, Dr. Erik Essousse stated that of the total number, 116,631 are men, representing 65.79 per cent. A total of 66,282 women were registered, representing 34.21per cent, some 131,778 youths (72.04 per cent) and 187 physically challenged persons, representing 0.09 per cent. “I must specify that we enrolled one hundred and sixty-seven thousand, eight hundred and thirty-six (167,836) more citizens as compared to the 2020 revision exercise, which represents an increase of 91.76 per cent, thanks to an easing of the Covid-19 stranglehold, which enabled our Branches to send teams on the field, obviously in strict respect of preventive measures,” the Director General of Elections stated. Apart from voters’ registration, Dr. Erik Essousse noted that Council Branches of ELECAM continue in the distribution of voter cards, a process which he said is still on course and urged those registered to have their cards withdrawn.&...
