CPDM Section Elections : The Hot Spots

The renewal of the executives of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) Subsections and Sections is slated from September 15-25, 2021.

The ongoing operation to renew the executives of the basic organs of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) since September 15, 2021 entered the decisive and the most hotly contested phase with the elections  subsection and section executives programmed to span up to September 25.  This phase of the electoral process promises fireworks considering that the Section Presidents are the bosses of the party at the local level.
Information getting to Cameroon Tribune indicates serious battles to control the many sections of the party across the country. Reports from the Benoue Division in the North Region talk of fierce electoral battles in the Benoue Centre I and Benoue Centre II Sections. There are possible three candidates postulating for the position of Section President in Benoue Centre I and two candidates in the Benoue Centre II. In Mvila Division in the South Region, field reports indicate that consensus wished by the party hierarchy has only succeeded at the rate of 20 per cent.  There are at least two competing lists in the eight sections of the party. The fierce competition is also awaited in the West Region. In the Menoua Centre I Section in Dschang, five competing lists are announced. In Nde North  (Bangangté) and Nde South (Tonga) Sections for example, there are two competing lists each with party barons said to be the postulating candidates. The same scenario is found in Mifi West Section (Bafoussam) and Mifi North with two competing lists each. Serious competition had earlier been announced in the seven CPDM Sections in Mfoundi Division in the Centre Region that also covers the capital city Yaounde, the Mayors of the Yaounde I, V and VI Subdivisional Councils said to be on the starting block. Elections are programmed to take place in the Mfoundi III, V and VI Sections on Sunday, September 19, 2021.  In a nutshell, in each section in the Centre Region, at least two competing lists are on the starting block.
