The training camp is the fourth since preparations for the world Cup began.
The national U-17 selection is currently in camp at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo to prepare for the upcoming world cup in that category to take place in Jordan from September 30th to October 21. The training camp which began on August 1st is the fourth in a series aimed at preparing the Little Lionesses for the competition. Last Saturday the Lionesses played a 2-2 draw against a local team, One to One Academy in a test match. The present training camp will end on August 21st after which the list of 21 Lionesses to defend the national colours in Jordan will be rendered public.
The team benefitted from the expertise of Thierry Banerat, a FIFA instructor who is in Cameroon to animate a training workshop for trainers of goalkeepers. Thierry Banerat attended the training sessions of the squad and dished out useful instructions to the players. He was optimistic that Cameroon will put up a good performance during the world cup in Jordan. There will be another training camp before the team leaves for Jordan.
It is worthy to note that Cameroon was drawn in group B alongside reigning European champions, Germany, South American champion, Venezuela and Canada who emerged third during the edition of the Central American cup. Cameroon begins the campaign on September 30th with the encounter against Canada. Cameroon qualified for the world cup having eliminated heavyweights like Ethiopia and Egypt in the qualifying series and will be making their maiden appearance in the final phase of the world cup in that category.
