Cameroon-Chad: Digital Interconnection Underway

Officials of Cameroon and Chad on November 12, 2021 in Yaounde signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the interconnection of optical fibre electronic communications.

E conomic, trade and other communication exchanges between Cameroon and Chad will soon be facilitated following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between officials of the two countries on the interconnection of optical fibre electronic communications. The Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu presided at the ceremony that took place on November 12, 2021 at the Ministry of External Relations in Yaounde. He witnessed the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng sign for Cameroon and the Minister of Posts and Digital Economy of Chad, Dr Idriss Saleh Bachar sign for his country. Minister Mbayu in his welcome statement expressed delight at the level of fruitful cooperation between Cameroon and Chad. He said the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marked a new era in bilateral relations between the two brotherly and friendly countries. On the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding, Minister Libom Li Likeng explained that it is the expression of the will of the Heads of State of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States (CEMAC) to reinforce digital integration.
