Pesticides Use Raises Alarm

Farmers are called upon to be very careful, follow instructions while using pesticides.

The pattern of pesticide use on crops in the country is far different from expert recommendations, endangering the life of the consumer. Pesticides residues in crops can cause cancers or damage the kidneys and liver. So farmers must be very careful when using them. Most farmers don't usually read the instructions on pesticide packages and that is why they apply it in disorder and this endangers the consumer. 
"They should read it so that they will be able to know when to apply and what quantity," Charles Shey of the Ministry of Agriculture told CT after a meeting of the Ministry with members of the organistion, Croplife Cameroon at the  Sawa Hotel in Douala on November 25, 2021.
Both parties discussed measures  to fight  the circulation of fake pesticides and how famers can use pesticides correctly without abuse. For example, the effect of killing caterpillars feeding on the crop brings the primary benefit of higher yields and better quality of cabbage.
