Housing and Urban Development : FCFA 118 Billion For Decent Living

Minister Celestine Ketcha Courtes defended the draft budget of the ministry before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly on December 1, 2021.

Housing and Urban Development Minister, Celestine Ketcha Courtes on December 1, 2021 defended the proposed budget for 2022 (FCFA 118 billion 990 million) before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly headed by Hon. Moutymbo Ayayi.
In her defence before the committee, she stated that the budget will be used for the realisation of four programmes which include, housing development, improving the urban social environment, development of urban transport infrastructure, and governance and institutional support to the urban sub-sector. On housing development, Minister Celestine Ketcha Courtes noted that focus shall be on the continuation of the project for the economic and touristic development of the municipal lake and the development of the MINGOA valley, the completion of the commissioning of 1,675 housing units, and prerequisites for the establishment of a factory for the manufacture of housing construction materials with the support of Shelter Afrique in order to boost the supply of decent housing in Cameroon. “The production of housing units by government will continue with the support of national and mu...
