Christmas Feast: Memiam School Pupils Light Christmas Tree

It is already Christmas at the Government Primary School “Les Champions FCB” of Memiam in the Nyong and So'o Division of the Centre Region. “Mother Christmas” was at the school premises yesterday December 20, 2021 with a gift for each child. Christmas bells and joyous carols echoed from the school premise during the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the school.

A delegation sent by the First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya joined the over 300 pupils in the school to celebrate the birth of the Saviour, light the Christmas tree and enjoy the season of sharing and love. Representing the First Lady at the event was Bidoung Habissou, Secretary General of the Chantal Biya Foundation (CBF) and Chargé de Mission at the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic. At the end of the event, each child went home with a special Christmas parcel from the First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya.

By midday yesterday, the school premise was beautifully adorned with the colours of the season. Christmas trees and flowers could be seen in strategic corners within the school premises. Hundreds of parcelled Christmas gifts were placed at one corner of the school ready to be distributed to all the pupils. Even the teachers received a special gift from the First Lady. Mrs Habissou Bidoung's arrival at the school premise was welcomed with special songs from the inhabitants in the locality as well as pupils of the school.

The pupils were particularly happy because due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they had not enjoyed such a ceremony for over two years.
