ECCAS Ordinary Session : Heads of State Discuss Peace, Maritime Safety

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute will represent President Paul Biya at the ordinary session in Brazzaville, Congo today, January 19, 2022.


The Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) will meet today, January 19, 2022 in Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo within the framework of the second ordinary session of the Conference of the Heads of State.
Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute will present the Head of State, President Paul Biya. The information is contained in a press release signed by the Director of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet, Balungeli Confiance Ebune.
Information from ECCAS communication sources indicate that the session will be focused on peace and security in the Central African Sub-region. The Heads of State and Government will therefore use the session to examine issues related to peace and maritime safety and security in the sub-region. Some ECCAS member countries are faced with security challenges such as Cameroon in the case of Boko Haram insurgencies and security crisis in the North West and South West Regions, Chad faced with the Boko Haram attacks and the Central African Republic faced with rebels insurgencies. There are also maritime security challenges linked to piracy and trafficking. 
The second ordinary session of the Heads of State Conference will be a culmination of a series of preparatory meetings at different levels.
