AFCON 2017 : Journalists Faced With Lodging Problems

For many journalists covering the 2017 AFCON having a comfortable room is a nightmare.
The AFCON 2017 in Gabon is going on without any major hitches. However, lodging has not been the best especially for journalists who have come into the country to cover the event. For many journalists, covering the 2017 AFCON is a nightmare due to the fact that they can hardly find comfortable places to spend the night throughout the competition.
Even though efforts have made by the host country in the domain of hotel management much still needs to be done to improve on the situation. Most of the journalists present in Gabon can hardly have enough rest because even after they have finished work they prefer to stay in the staduim or in town and only go back to their rooms in the evenings.
One Cameroonian journalist who asked for anonymity said at least three journalists share the same hotel room due to lack of rooms. «I rented the room and I had taken two of my friends with me », he said. Due to the high cost of hotel rooms, journalists group themselves and share the hotel bills. Some journalists who had friends or relations in Gabon were lucky to have comfortable rooms reserved for them. The majority are just perching in hotel rooms and inns while praying the competition comes to an end fast.
