Garoua Medical Personnel : Appreciable Services Rendered

They have despite the odds, given a good account of themselves during the AFCON competition.

They might not be at the forefront all the time but the job they do behind the scenes is enormous. They are medical officials in Garoua who have left no stone unturned to make the 2021 Africa Nations Cup in Garoua a success. Before the start as well as during the competition, they have been in full gear attending to visitors and other stakeholders arriving or at work in the city.
At different corners in the town, special teams were posted to carter for those who came for vaccines or test. Here, two types of tests were offered to visitors. The PCR test or the rapid test. For the PCR test, spectators needed to do it at least seventy-two hours before the day of match and the results sent electronically via phone to the person concern, while the rapid test could be done hours before every encounter. However, a test does not give direct entry into the stadium as one needed a sanitary pass upon presentation of a negative Covid-19 test. The medical official in charge collects the negative Covid-19 result sheet, does some verification to make sure it is authentic, then issues an entry pass. 
This exercise which was done on daily basis was highly supervised by officials of the regional delegation for health from where it was disclosed that, for the AFCON site in Garoua, over 600 medical personnel were mobilized with 21,000 tests carried out throughout the competition.
