Standardizing Nguon Festival: MINAC Signs Deal With Bamoun Palace

A delegation from the Ministry of Culture met the Nguon Local Organizing Committee in Foumban on January 28, 2022.

The Director of Cultural Patrimony in the Ministry of Culture, Mrs. Suzanne Pulcherie Nnomo Ela, says the measures adopted by her ministry were aimed at guaranteeing cultural pluralism and promoting the Bamoun cultural feast, Nguon, which has over the years been a vehicle of ideals of cultural assimilation and transmission.
She said the Foumban meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Culture and the Nguon Local Organizing Committee was to elaborate on intra-Nguon cultural projects to hand over to UNESCO for inclusion as an international instrument of cultural diversity. Pulcherie Nnomo Ela said the signing of the deal was to standardize Nguon for cultural affinity. The meeting was chaired by Sultan Nabil Nforrifoum Mbombo Njoya. MINAC’s team was led by the Director of Cultural Patrimony, while the Nguon Local Organizing Committee was headed by the Nguon General Coordinator, Njingoumbe Jean Emmanuel.
