Courtesy Visit: Audrey Azoulay Meets Chantal Biya

The UNESCO Director-General was received by the organisations’ Goodwill Ambassador at the east-wing of the Unity Palace yesterday February 6, 2022.

The visit of the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Audrey Azoulay, yesterday February 6, 2022 at the Unity Palace could not have been complete without her meeting with one of theirs Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya who is UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion. Barely an hour after an audience with the Head of State, the convoy of Audrey Azoulay drove towards the east-wing of the Unity Palace, where she was received by the First Lady.
At exactly 2:30 p.m., the First Lady of Cameroon was standing at the entrance into the Oriental Pavilion, to welcome the Director-General of an organisation she proudly represents especially amongst the most vulnerable people in Cameroon and beyond. In less than one minute,   Audrey Azoulay alighted from her car. Warm embrace and the exchange of niceties graced the moment between the UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion and the Director-General of UNESCO. Both ladies, in all smiles walked into the Oriental Pavilion for a brief chat that last close to 20 minutes.
Audrey Azoulay is in Cameroon for an official visit. She is a French-Moroccan civil servant and politician who has been serving as the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization  since 2017, becoming the second female leader of the organization after Irina Bokova.
