National Bilingualism: Going Beyond Weeklong Celebration

Activities to mark the 22nd edition of the National Bilingualism Week took place at the Yaounde 7 sub-division on Friday February 4, 2022.

Primary school pupils in the Centre Region through cultural and linguistic activities have displayed their mastery of the two official languages. This was during activities at the Saint Francis Bilingual School Group at the Nkolbisson neighborhood in Minkoa-Meyos in Yaounde to mark the 22nd edition of the National Bilingualism Week. Presiding at the ceremony was the Regional Delegate for Basic Education in the Centre Region; Jean Blaise Tsanga. He noted that from the display, bilingualism is effective amongst pupils in the Centre Region.
Jean Blaise Tsanga also called on teachers not just to commemorate only during the bilingualism week but throughout the educational course of the pupils they teach because it is important in their educational path even after graduation from the university. The Regional Inspector for Pedagogy for the Promotion of Bilingualism, Njuh Godlove Achuo said the event concluded the 22nd edition of the National Bilingualism Week in the Yaounde 7 Sub-division. He lauded the rich cultural show through which kids showcased what they have been doing in their various classrooms. Bilingualism, he reiterated, is effective amongst primary school pupils in the Centre Region.
