Housing, Urban Development: Modernisation Of Large Cities Under Review

Staff of the central and decentralised services met over the weekend in Yaounde during an annual conference of the ministry.

Personnel of the central and decentralised services of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development have reviewed methodological guides for the production of urban planning documents. This was during the 2022 annual conference of the Ministry which ended on Saturday February 5, 2022. The theme of the conference was “New Strategic Performance framework and inclusive mechanism to create synergy between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU) and the decentralized local authorities with a view to the operationalization of the urban modernization plan." Opening the conference was the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Courtes Née Keutcha Célestine.
The Minister said the gathering aimed at creating synergy in view to operationalise the urban modernisation plan as well as look at the new contribution of the urban sub-sector to achieving the objectives of the National Development Strategy, 2030. She recalled the Head of State’s plans to transform Cameroonian cities even after the African Cup of Nations. She specified the continuation of major investments to reduce disparities, infrastructures between Regions and to make them development poles under the prism of infrastructure, particularly roads.
