Cameroon-UNESCO: Fruitful Cooperation Celebrated During Dinner

Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on behalf of President Paul Biya at his lakeside residence in Yaounde on February 7, 2022 offered dinner to the visiting Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Audrey Azoulay.
The toast during the dinner served as an occasion to celebrate the fruitful and multidimensional cooperation between Cameroon and UNESCO. Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute in the toast expressed the satisfaction of Cameroonian authorities for the good cooperation and promising future with UNESCO. He used the occasion to congratulate Madam Audrey Azoula  on her re-election as the Director General of UNESCO in November 2021 and expressed delight at the fact that her first outing after the re-election was the current visit to Cameroon.   
Madam Azoulay is not only in Cameroon but more importantly attended the final and closing ceremony of the Africa Cup of Nations TotalEnergies AFCON 2021 at the Olembe Stadium on February 6, 2022. Prime Minister Dion Ngute said the presence of the UNESCO Director General at the final of AFCON testified the organisation’s commitment to the values of sports in general and football in particular. Information from UNESCO indicates that, “Sports is, in fact one of UNESCO’s flagship programmes, which has made it a tool for dialogue between civilisations, culture and peoples and an indispensable element of social cohesion and harmony between peoples.”  Prime Minister Dion Ngute also lauded the contribution of UNESCO to Cameroon’s development through diverse projects.
