Buea: Mbororo Women Acquire Economic, Leadership Skills

They pledged to transmit the knowledge to their community members.

Over sixty women and young girls from the Mbororo community in Fako Division in the South West Region of Cameroon have been taught skills in peace building, business coaching, leadership and communication, sexual health and liquid soap manufacturing services. The exercises unfolded on February 5, 2022, at the Buea Central Mosque and it was facilitated by Baiye Frida Ebai, Fanny Bessem Ako-Egbe, Ndefon Beatrice and Zainab Abdullahi.
The workshop falls in line with Daraja Reube Mbororo Development Association (DAREM) whose mission is to improve the living conditions of Mbororo women displaced by the ongoing sociopolitical upheavals in the North West and South West Regions, climate change and environmental and health related issues imposed on them through natural and man-made causes.
Solidarity Health Foundation drilled them on sexual and reproductive health rights, BAWAC Cameroon taught them peace building, communication and leadership development and FALCOH Foundation brought in basic skills in bookkeeping and business coaching.
There were other modules on social media strategies for business, conflict prevention, promote social cohesion and eliminate misinformation, disinformation and hate speech from their homes, schools and community.
