Douala : Construction of a Modern Market in Gestation

A modern market is foreseen in Douala's outskirts neighbourhood Logbesssou. Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam, who was in Douala to that effect on Friday, February 25, 2022, presided over discussions of a pilot committee for construction of the modern market at the conference hall of the Douala City Council in Bonanjo.
The discussion was held within the ambit of examining the technical, financial and legal aspects of the project that is still in its planning phase. In particular, the committee looked in to how funds for the estimated FCFA 29 billion project will be raised, the layout of the market and its environment aspects. As a result, the take-off date for the construction is not yet set.
