Economic Empowerment : 12 Civil Society Organisations Receive Grants

The money amounting to FCFA 5 million will permit them run their activities smoothly.


12 civil society organisations drawn from the North West, South West, Littoral and West Regions of Cameroon have been offered grants by the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Foundation (LUKMEF Cameroon). They were selected from 48 applications and took home FCFA 5 million. The event to hand the financial package to the beneficiaries took place at the LUKMEF Africa Civil Society Development Centre in Molyko-Buea on Friday February 25, 2022 under the watchful eyes of Marcus Davies, Political Counselour at the Canada High Commission to Cameroon.
Rev. Chiabi Martin Sam, CEO of Grace Charitable and Rehabilitation Organisation (GRACARO) based in Bamenda is one of the beneficiaries. He took home FCFA 400,000. He planned to buy a computer and other office equipment with the money that will enhance their work. He also saluted LUKMEF for having taught them how organisations are manage.
Tanyi Christian, CEO of LUKMEF Cameroon, said his motivation on offering grants to other civil society organisations is based on his conviction that that the best way for LUKMEF to continue making impact is to build the capacity of other organisations.
