Basic Education : Calls For Effective Resumption Of Teaching

Leaders of trade unions of the Basic Education sector and government officials had a meeting in Yaounde on March 3, 2022 with the objective to resolve complaints.


The government has the willingness to provide concrete solutions to the problems facing the educational community, the Secretary General at the Prime Minister’s Office, Séraphin Magloire Fouda told  trade union leaders of the Basic Education sector.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, Minister Séraphin Magloire Fouda  on March 3, 2022 presided at  the meeting to examine the concerns raised by trade unions of the Basic Education sector relating globally to the improvement of the working conditions of teachers of the said sector.
 Government urged the teachers to work towards an effective and serene resumption of teaching. The trade unions had called for a strike action raising complaints that include the clearance of payment of areas, delays in the payment of salaries of newly recruited teachers, delays in matriculation, integration hurdles as well as some administrative and procedural issues.
Solutions to the problems, Minister Séraphin Magloire Fouda said, will be jointly sought by government and members of the trade unions.
