Two Years After Covid-19 Outbreak: Measures To Curb Pandemic Continue

So far, some 119,322 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the country among which 1,926 deaths.

Two years after the Covid-19 pandemic, Cameroonians are urged to continue applying barrier measures against the virus. However, health experts recognise the fact that it is an extremely long pandemic and they can understand if people want to go back to a normal life. Yet, a source at the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre says there is need for the population to be vigilant and keep respecting the barrier measures especially washing hands with soap or using hydro alcoholic gel. This, it is said, will not only protect people from Covid-19, but also from many other diseases including cholera; which is currently affecting some regions in the country.
While the government is taking further measures to control the pandemic, the population is advised that any person experiencing one or more Covid-19 symptoms need to follow the national algorithm and get tested to ensure he/she receives the appropriate treatment whether it is Covid-19 or any other disease like malaria that shares symptoms like fever.
Recent statistics from the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre in Yaounde indicate that some 119,322 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the country with 1,926 deaths registered and 117,263 recoveries giving a percentage of 98.3. Covid-19 vaccination data also reveals that some 1,074,355 people received at least one dose of vaccine (7.8 per cent of the target population). So far, some 4,416 health care worker...
