Humanitarian Diplomacy : Red Cross, IRIC Partner For Greater Impact

Some 100 students of the International Relations Institute of Cameroon have been trained on policies and protection of internally displaced persons.

Cooperation ties between the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) have been deepened within the domain of enhancing human dignity. Some 100 students of the educational establishment were in a two-day seminar trained by the international organisation on “humanitarian diplomacy of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the protection of internally displaced persons in Cameroon.” The Director of IRIC, Daniel Urbain Ndongo and the Regional Chief of Delegation of the Red Cross for Central Africa (Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Sao Tomé and Principe), Stephane Pierre Bonamy, co-presided at the certificate award ceremony on March 18, 2022. 
In his speech, Minister Plenipotentiary Daniel Urbain Ndongo while congratulating the participants composed of the 10th batch of the department of the International Cooperation, Humanitarian Action and Sustainable Development, noted that IRIC trains students who can best articulate issues of international relations, including aspects of humanitarian diplomacy. “This training is within the framework of the new governance policy in universities prescribed by the Head of State. A positive outcome is that it brings the students of IRIC together with professionals of the Red Cross who are indulged in humanitarian diplomacy. The training therefore completes academic courses offered in IRIC in that domain,” he stated.
