Rejuvenated, Forward Looking CPDM

The renewal of the executive bureaus of the basic organs of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) served to strengthen and remobilise the party.


The Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete in the circular letter of March 15, 2022 on the celebration of the 37th anniversary of the party today, March 24, 2022 declared, “The just-ended operations to renew the executives of the various basic organs were a singular opportunity, not only to strengthen by rejuvenating them, our human and intellectual capacities to supervise the militants at the grassroots.” He continued, “but also and above all, regarding the context, to confirm the strength of our ambitions as included in the project presented by the President of the Republic to our compatriots during the last presidential election and that he has been patiently and methodically implementing since his election.”
The declaration of Jean Nkuete is indicative of the CPDM that came out of  the renewal operations more mobilised, invigorated and better prepared to maintain its leadership position. Even before the renewal of the executive bureaus of the basic organs of the party, its National President, Head of State, President Paul Biya on June 24, 2021 took salutary measures by lifting disciplinary sanctions and rehabilitating 23 of the 78 officials and militants who were found guilty of misconduct during the February 9, 2020 twin election of municipal councillors and Members of the National Assembly.
The directives for the renewal operations which were strictly respected enabled the party to come out victorious from the operation with everything done to make the CPDM more inclusive and a reflection of Cameroon’s ethnic, cultural and gender diversity. President Biya in the circular that spelt out the general framework of the exercise ensured the respect of the inclusive policy in the constitution of the lists of candidates.  He stated criteria in the constitution of the lists such as sharing, strengthening national integration, representativeness and sociological balance and the inclusion of women, youth, minorities and people with disabilities.  The CPDM also emerged from the operation as the bedrock of democracy and legitimacy as  with regard to the electoral college.
