Voters Registration : ELECAM Registers Satisfactory Progression

Field trip reports of the Electoral Board members of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) reveal a satisfactory progression in voter enrolment statistics since the revision of voters registers were launched on January 2, 2022.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Board of ELECAM, Enow Abrams Egbe during the opening ceremony of the first ordinary session of the Electoral Board  for this year 2022 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on March 24, 2022  indicated that a total of 90, 432 new electors have been recorded against 20, 849 in 2021, registering an increase of 76.95 per cent which brings the total number of registered voters on the electoral roll to 7 050 280. He hoped that in the coming weeks, better performance will be attained with a more optimistic involvement from stakeholders of the electoral process, especially political parties and members of Joint Commissions for the revision of electoral registers.
The board meeting of ELECAM was mainly for the submission of accounts for the 2021 financial year.  Deliberations therefore focused on financial matters aimed at appraising the operations management of ELECAM in the past budgetary year, in particular through the examination and approval of the administrative account, management account as well as the statement of expenditure of the Electoral Board’s Special Appropriation. It was also an occasion to evaluate the quarterly activity report of the Directorate General of Elections from January to March 2022, in support of the roadmap agreed at the end of the year.
The board session was also an occasion to appraise the ongoing professionalization and modernisation process of ELECAM.
