Tombel : Voter Registration Gaining Momentum

Inscription of potential voters on the Elections Cameroon electoral register has regained steam in Tombel following the return to normalcy in the town.

Things are no longer the same in Tombel, Kupe Muanenguba Division of the South West Region as life is gradually returning to normal in the area following the socio-political crisis in the North West and South West Regions. As all activities have fully resumed, so too  has the political consciousness of the people  reawakened as observed in the renewed interest towards voter registration. According to Ebeson Donaldson, the return to peace and new dynamism in the political leadership in the town has motivated him to return home and register on the electoral list. Another young potential voter, Bertrand Ewane who registered on the list corroborated adding that he wants to be part of the democratic process in choosing both local and national leaders in upcoming elections.
Though the Tombel Council Branch of Elections Cameroon declined revealing registration statistics to the press, the effervescence observed at the ELECAM registration boot on March 24 was telling. Even at ELECAM Tombel temporal location at the Police Station following the razing of their office in the heat of the crisis, same enthusiasm was noticed on March 25. An ELECAM staff on duty admitted the turnout to register has recently been impressive.
