Confucius Institute : Training Of Local Chinese Teachers Continues

The 14th Board meeting of the institution based at the University of Yaounde II took place in a virtual setting yesterday, March 29, 2022.

This year, the Confucius Institute at the University of Yaounde II, will among other things continue with the training of local Chinese language teachers in Yaounde, Douala and Maroua as well as seek ways to solve the problems of shortage of Chinese books and materials in required centres. The Director of the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC), who is also Co-director of the Confucius Institute (CI), Daniel Urbain Ndongo said yesterday during the virtual session of the 14th Board meeting of the Confucius Institute co-chaired by the Rector of the University of Yaounde II, Professor Minkoa She and Professor Zheng Mengzhuang, President of the Zhejiang Normal University and Co-chair of CI Board.
Daniel Urbain Ndongo said for this year’s work plan of the CI, they will continue to do a good job in the prevention of the Covid-19. This is to ensure the safety of teachers as well as teaching at the Institute. Besides efforts to build up cooperation with different schools, the Institute will resume the organization of cultural activities which were suspended two years ago due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Director of IRIC said for the 50th Anniversary of IRIC billed from June 28 to July 1, 2022, they intend to provide a space for showcasing the rich and long history of cooperation between Zhejiang Normal University and IRIC since 1996.
