Trophy Hunting: collection Of Revenue To Be Stepped up

? This is one of the objectives of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife for 2017.
The security situation in the north of the country has over the years caused a slowdown in sports or trophy hunting, resulting in dwindling wildlife revenue. Speaking in Yaounde on Friday, January 20, 2017, while receiving New Year wishes, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Phillip Ngole Ngwese, pledged to reverse the trend this year.
The situation, the Minister noted, discourages ecotourism, promotes organised poaching and encroachment on protected areas. Other priorities for 2017 include checking forest surface areas by tightening degradation and deforestation control measures and initiating the permanent estate registration process.
