Tackling Cholera Epidemic: SW Regional Assembly Donates To Treatment Centres

The gifts comprised of mattresses, medical solution, materials and disinfectants centralized and received in Limbe by South West Regional Delegate for Public Health last Friday.

As part of their mission to assist the population in disaster, the Regional House of Assembly for the South West has donated medical needs worth CFA 10 Million to the various cholera treatment centres in the Region.
The donation was made last Friday 1 April, 2022, at the Bota erected cholera treatment centre where some 103 patients were still struggling between life and death. Elango Bakoma Zacheus, President of the South West Regional Assembly, led a delegation of members to present the donation in Bota-Limbe.
Speaking on the occasion, Elango Bakoma said the regional representation of all South West people could not sit back and watch citizens die helpless. He explained that the assistance was carefully selected with the advice of the medics so that only very necessary items were offered for immediate use. While waiting for the conditions of delivering potable water to be improved, the President advised that people could either boil their drinking water to kill the germs or apply drops of camel water to disinfect it.
The medical gifts included alcohol, chlorine, saline, catheter, perforated plaster, examination gloves, sanitation spirit, spraying cans, drip solution, and mattresses. The donation was destined for treatment centres in Bota-Limbe, Tiko, Kumba, Bolifamba-Buea, Buea Regional Hospital Annex and Limbe General Hospital...
