National Assembly : Speaker Commends Peace Within Teachers Ranks

Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Dijbril made the remark as he presided at the closing plenary of the first ordinary session of the 2022 legislative year on April 09.

The House Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has noted with satisfaction the peace and tranquility that have returned within teacher’s ranks. He made the remark on April 09, 2022 as he presided at the closing of the first ordinary session of parliament for the 2022 legislative year in the presence of members of government headed by the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute and representatives of the diplomatic corps. Hon Cavaye Yeguie Dijbril exhorted officials in the education sector to take all necessary measures and organise catch-up classes, with government drawing lessons from the situation of teachers in order to forestall the possibility of having similar protests in future. “In essence, there should be no cacophony or laxity in the salary status of State employees as that will lead to speculations that there is racketeering or bargaining vis-à-vis set government procedures. We all know the slogan “public service is free.” It should not become an empty slogan, but one that is actually translated into reality,” stated the House Speaker of the National Assembly.
