Return To Peace, Development : PM Dion Ngute Remobilises South West Elite

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on April 7, 2022 evening called specifically on parliamentarians to take peace and development message to the population.

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute used the dinner he and his wife offered to Senators and Members of the National Assembly from the South West Region on April 7, 2022 to remobilise them, as well as the entire elite to work for the complete return to peace and development in the region. The dinner was at his Yaounde Lake side residence.
It was the first time the Prime Minister was communing with the parliamentarians as a group since they were elected. He stated that the objective of the dinner was to, “Congratulate you, commune with you and show the concern of the Head of State to the people of the South West Region.” The fellowship was also intended to galvanise the parliamentarians and the members of the elite present who were the former Prime Minister and current President of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, Peter Mafany Musonge, cabinet ministers, directors general of corporations, as well as the South West Regional Assembly. He said the purpose was for them to in synergy work with the grassroots to seek solutions to their development problems. The Parliamentarians in particular have to reach out to the people with the message of peace and development. They also have to re-echo the Head of State, President Paul Biya’s clarion call for misled children who took up arms and are in the bushes fighting to drop the arms, come out of the bushes and embrace peace.
Talking about the current socio-political and security context in the South West Region, Prime Minister Dion Ngute expressed delight that with support and numerous efforts within the aftermath of the Major National Dialogue and Special Status granted to both the North West and South West Regions, “we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.” He said though there were still some hot beds of insecurity, “we can see remarkable improvement today.” The major improvement indicators, he disclosed, were that all the major roads in the region were functioning...
