Political Parties : Indiscipline Persists

Despite deterrent mechanisms in place militants of many political parties still continue with anti-party acts.

The President of the Ad hoc Disciplinary Committee of the Central Committee of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), Peter Mafany Musonge in a press release invited the Substantive member of the CPDM Central Committee, Prof. Messanga  Nyamnding  Charlemagne to appear before the Committee on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. The disciplinary charges levied against Prof. Messanga Nyamnding were not indicated in the press release. 
The case of Messanga Nyamnding is just the latest in a series of efforts put in place by political parties, especially the ruling CPDM to instil order and prepare the party for greater electoral victories. On September 9, 2020, the Ad hoc Disciplinary Committee of the CPDM summoned 89 militants whose files were examined in relation to acts of indiscipline committed during and after the election of municipal councillors and Members of the National Assembly that took place on February 9, 2020. The Committee forwarded its report to the National President of the CPDM, Head of State, President Paul Biya and sanctions were slammed on 78 militants found guilty and 11 others were discharged. For the sake of harmony and maintain cohesion in the CPDM, President Biya on the eve of the operation to renew the bureaus of the basic organs of the party granted clemency and rehabilitated 23 hitherto sanctioned militants. Since the creation of Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, cases of indiscipline have persisted and at each moment, the party hierarchy takes appropriate corrective measures. There was also the case of Jean-Baptiste Djouokou and Elise Henriette Mboula epse Essame who were sanctioned by dismissal from the CPDM on September 11, 2014 but the National President Paul Biya granted them forgiveness and rehabilitated them on May 28, 2018.
